Meet Ian

In the short time Ian has been narrating, he’s recorded for Tantor and PRH and won Earphones awards for his work on Pony, a story of ghosts and family, set in the American frontier, and for Runaway Blues, about a boy and his grandfather travelling to Alabama in search of music and connection.A man with long, brown hair, wearing a medieval hood and hat, eyes closed and playing a mandolin.

Ian spent two decades selling everything from swords to creepy, sculpted faces and figured out early on that the best sales are always about leaving your audience feeling good when they walk away. He dwells in the fantastic through medieval reenactment and playing Irish music, and maintains a love for fantasy and history. You can follow his musical and artistic adventures at Instagram (@ianhawkinsvoice).

Despite the grey in his beard, Ian has a voice that can sound anywhere from nine to ninety and often records both middle-grade and ya.

“Hawkins voices the gruff, gravelly voiced Marshall Farmer, calm Sheriff Chalfont, skeptical Deputy Beautyman, and smug Ollerenshaw with equal ease.”
